The agreement, in plain words

Who this is for

Coltivare is a private network for working creatives in New York. You join by invitation, and membership is curated rather than open. You must be 18 or older.

An invitation is issued to one person and is not transferable. If you were sent a code that was meant for somebody else, tell us rather than using it.

Your work stays yours

You keep every right in the photographs, writing, and work you put here. Nothing on this platform transfers ownership of anything you make.

You give us permission to display what you post to other members, and to show your profile publicly once you have approved it. That permission exists so the software can do the one thing you joined it for, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.

Nothing is public until you say so

A profile becomes publicly readable at the moment you approve it, and not before. Approval also fixes the handle a physical card or a QR code will point at.

The public view carries what you would put on paper: your name, your practice, your neighbourhood, your Instagram, your reason for creating, and your photograph. It never carries your email address or anything administrative.

Behaviour, and what we will not host

This is a room of people who have to work with each other. There is no tolerance for harassment, abuse, hate speech, sexual content involving minors, impersonation, or content posted without the consent of the people in it.

Every member can report a profile or a message, and every member can block another member with immediate effect. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours, and anything that breaks the line above is removed and the account ended. We do not warn twice for the serious ones.

Do not use this to send unsolicited commercial messages, to scrape the directory, or to collect other members' details for use somewhere else.

Collaborations and money

Opportunities posted here are agreements between members. Coltivare is not a party to them, does not employ anybody, and does not guarantee that work is completed or that anybody is paid.

Where a rate is recorded, it is a record of what two people agreed, kept so that both of them have the same version. Check who you are working with, the same as you would anywhere else.

Ending it

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time. Doing so removes your profile, your public page, and the content you posted.

We can end an account that breaks these terms. If we do, we will say why unless saying so would put somebody at risk.

The honest limits

This is a small platform run by a small collective. It will sometimes be unavailable, and it is provided as it is, without a warranty that it will suit any particular purpose.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using it. Nothing here removes a right you have that cannot be signed away.

These terms are governed by the law of the State of New York. If we change them in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
